The primary election is on April 1.
Numerous public forums have been held and plenty of videos and interviews have been posted online.
Nineteen candidates are still vying for voters attention. Some of them cannot be found and it seems a few never really intended on campaigning.
Here are the results of the online poll I ran about the Democratic Primary.
(You'll notice that not all candidates are listed. That's because it's a poll of the Democratic candidates. Republicans and Independents are not a part of the Democratic primary.)
Voters are confused. Some won’t even go to the polls because they are overwhelmed with choices. And when we humans are confused, we revert to knee-jerk reactions.
I believe that if a candidate has fewer than 5% of the votes in this poll, they should drop out even though the poll is deeply flawed.
I'm fully aware that this poll isn't scientifically valid. See disclaimers below.
I've asked those with the lowest ranking to suspend their campaign. As you might guess, my request was not met with a positive response. ;-)
No surprise. It's hard to bow out when your ego and your pocketbook are deeply invested in any mission.
DISCLAIMERS: This poll is unscientific and flawed for the following reasons:
People from anywhere in the world can vote,
A candidate or resident can rally their team and pack the poll to make it look like they're ahead,
The only place it's been publicized is on Jackson Jambalaya and Nextdoor and I doubt that those two media are often visited by 90% of Jackson residents. So it really might not be a good indicator of the real election.
This poll is for the Democratic primary only and doesn't account for any Republican or Independent candidate.
Initially, I included two options I later deleted, "Other" and "None of the above". Those two categories accounted for 12% of the total votes. You can still see them in the graph. I deleted those options a few days ago because they weren't helpful and they were costing me money.
I have absolutely nothing to gain from this poll. It cost me money and a great deal of time. It is as objective and non-partisan as I could make it.
